Paragraf harnesses graphene’s unique properties to create the next generation of semiconductor devices.
Paragraf harnesses graphene’s unique properties to create the next generation of semiconductor devices. It is the first company to mass produce graphene-based Hall effect sensors that measure magnetic fields using less power, while achieving greater sensitivity, than conventional Hall sensors. Paragraf sensors have unique advantages for industrial automation and manufacturing, automotive and transportation, consumer electronics, research, computing and healthcare applications. The company’s proprietary production techniques provide a contamination-free, one-atom-thick layer of graphene directly on a standard semiconductor substrate. The team is also developing biosensors that will deliver high sensitivity, point-of-care diagnostic tests and working on technologies to extend Moore’s Law.Paragraf’s story began in 2015, when CEO Simon Thomas was part of a team of research scientists at the University of Cambridge working with graphene deposition. The Paragraf HQ and first manufacturing plant opened near Cambridge in 2018. A second plant will open soon.
