Mr Akash M. Ambani is the son of Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited and Nita Ambani, Chairperson of Reliance Foundation.

Akash completed the IB Diploma Programme from Dhirubhai Ambani International School (DAIS) in 2009 and has graduated from Brown University in 2013, majoring in business and economics.

After graduating from Brown, Akash is currently part of the Reliance JioInfocomm Limited (RJIL), the 4G arm of Reliance, which is today one of RIL’s most ambitious projects aimed at transforming the country’s communications landscape. Akash is on the RJIL Executive Committee, the governing and operating body of the company, and actively participates in the day-to-day operations across various segments and functional areas of the company. A tech-savvy person from childhood, Akash is closely involved in the product development of messaging/chat product and other digital services applications of RJIL. He is also keenly involved in various employee engagement initiatives to bring about a young culture in the company.

Akashis an avid cricketer and Akash has played a key role in designing the cricket kit for Mumbai Indians, a franchise of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008. Over the years Akash has been playing a key role in the functioning of Mumbai Indians’ including actively participating in the team and management meetings, working closely with his mother Nita Ambani.He has contributed immensely in Mumbai Indians’ winning the IPL 2013 and CLT20 2013 Championships.

Akash is also a talented and enthusiastic soccer player. He represented the DAIS football team for over five years and had participated in the International Football Camp conducted at the School, with participation of prominent coaches from the UK. He believes that beyond sport, soccer has taught him what leadership is all about, on and off the field.Currently, Akash is playing a lead role in the new Indian Super League (ISL) which is being promoted by IMG-Reliance in alliance with Star India, on the lines of IPL, as a major sports property.

In 2013, Reliance Foundation and the National Basketball Association (NBA) has entered into a multiyear partnership to launch the most far-reaching and comprehensive school-based basketball program ever in India and Akash has been instrumental in launching this ambitious Jr. NBA program which aims at engaging one million youth in this sport and training 2000 coaches and physical education instructors.

A passionate wildlife photographer, Akash often holidays with the rest of the family at wildlife sanctuaries.
