Alana Ackerson is an entrepreneur, board member and investor in industries including financial services, blockchain, and international development. Alana is Co-Founder and Chief People Officer at Figure, whose primary mission is to build and promote self-sufficient, independent blockchain solutions to eliminate rent seeking and facilitate innovation in financial services. As part of this objective, Figure has a financial services business, including lending and asset management, executed entirely on blockchain. Provenance is Figure's blockchain protocol for the origination, custody, trading and securitization of whole loans and other assets. Provenance has a native token, Hash, which is used to both access the blockchain and to memorialize off-chain exchange of fiat currency.Previously, she served as CEO of The Thiel Foundation, where she led the organization’s efforts to support the next-generation of entrepreneurs and to promote radical scientific and technological innovations. Alana is a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations and serves on the Board of Directors for Opportunity International. She has sat on the Boards of Stanford Student Enterprises, SFTS, and the Association of Women in Alternative Investing, as well as the Executive Committee of Breakout Labs and the Organizing Committee for International Justice Mission.Alana holds a B.A. with Honors in Science, Technology and Society from Stanford University, an M.A. in Philosophical and Systematic Theology from the Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley, and a Doctorate of Ministry with a focus on technology and faith from San Francisco Theological Seminary, where she also earned a Diploma in the Art of Spiritual Direction. She is a candidate for a Certificate in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from Stanford University.
