Ashley Smith is a Director at Hamilton Place Strategies, working with communications, policy, and advocacy clients, and specializing in economic and financial issues. She has developed and executed communication strategies surrounding high profile Congressional and regulatory activity, as well as built thought leadership platforms for senior economists and business leaders. Ashley’s analytical work includes quantitative assessments of company reputation and media coverage, and modeling the impact of potential budget cut scenarios. She has also managed regional advocacy and local polling efforts on international economic issues. Internally, Ashley assists in social media efforts and contributes to policy research for HPS research products.Prior to HPS, Ashley gained experience on Capitol Hill in the office of Congressman Scott Garrett. While in the congressman’s office, she worked closely with the Communications Director to monitor financial press coverage and issues the House Financial Services Committee would be examining in the future. Additionally, she provided support to legislative staff and communicated with constituents on a daily basis.Ashley spent her final year at Southern Methodist University working at the George W. Bush Presidential Center. While there, she provided support for four policy-based Institute conferences and the inaugural Foundation event, the unveiling of plans for the Presidential Center. In the Spring of 2013, she returned to SMU to help coordinate media logistics and efforts surrounding the opening of the Center.Originally from Ridgewood, NJ, Ashley received a B.B.A. in Finance from the Edwin L. Cox School of Business at SMU.
