As a Managing Director, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer at General Catalyst Partners, Bill Fitzgerald oversees the firm’s financial, legal, compliance and administrative functions. He is based in the firm’s Cambridge office.

Before co-founding General Catalyst Partners, Bill served as Chief Financial Officer for a number of portfolio companies with David Fialkow and Joel Cutler. In this role, he co-founded and operated numerous businesses with Joel Cutler and David Fialkow in the travel, information services, specialty retail, consumer direct marketing and payment processing industries. Bill was also Vice President and Treasurer of a private equity buyout group that focused on acquisitions of under-performing or strategically challenged businesses. Prior to that, Bill was a manager at KPMG LLP and an Adjunct Professor of Taxation at Boston College.

Bill is a current or former member of the Massachusetts Bar and Certified Public Accountants Associations, the Association for Corporate Growth, the Financial Executives Institute and Director of the Private Equity CFO Association. Bill frequently speaks at industry forums.
