David M. Lawrence is a general partner in Conduit Venture Partners, and senior advisor to Burrill and Company, Health Evolution Partners, and Physic Ventures. Previously, he was the CEO of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc. and Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, and chairman of the board from 1992 until his retirement in 2002. David Lawrence serves on the boards of Agilent Technologies, McKesson Corporation, Dynavax Technologies, Raffles Medical Group (Singapore), and Proventys, Inc. and is a special advisor to the board of SomaLogic, Inc., and to the founders of MedExpert, Inc..A member of the RAND Health Advisory Board and the Advisory Board for the RAND COMPARE study on national health reform, David Lawrence is also a founding member of the Lucien Leape Institute of the National Patient Safety Foundation, and the author of From Chaos to Care: The Promise of Team-Based Medicine (Perseus Press, 2002).David Lawrence received his B.A. from Amherst College, his M.D. from the University of Kentucky, and an M.P.H. from the University of Washington. He is board certified in general preventive medicine (Johns Hopkins and University of Washington), a member of Alpha Omega Alpha (Medical Honorary Society) and the Institute of Medicine (National Academy of Sciences), and was named Distinguished Advisor to the National Patient Safety Foundation in 2005.
