Elisabeth Bumiller is Washington bureau chief of The New York Times. She oversees daily operations and leads all Washington news coverage.

Previously she held the position of Washington editor and before that, deputy Washington bureau chief, editing White House and domestic policy reporting. She has also covered the Pentagon, John McCain’s presidential campaign and the White House.

Bumiller has also written for The Washington Post and the Miami Herald and is the author of three books.
