Eoghan McCabe is a tech entrepreneur and angel investor based in Silicon Valley currently serving as Chairman at Intercom. Originally from Dublin, Ireland, McCabe has founded multiple software companies and related businesses, and he has helped fund many other tech startups. He holds a BA in Computer Science from Trinity University, Dublin (2006).In 2011, McCabe co-founded Intercom – a customer communications and data tracking application – along with business partners Des Traynor, Ciaran Lee and David Barrett. As Intercom CEO, McCabe has led the company to become one of the most successful startups in the last decade, a so-called “unicorn”. Now, as Chairman at Intercom, McCabe continues to provide strategic leadership. The company raised $125 million in funding in 2018, and it has an estimated valuation of more than $1 billion. Over the course of McCabe’s leadership, Intercom has opened offices in San Francisco, California; Chicago, Illinois; Dublin, Ireland; Surry Hills, Australia; and London, England.McCabe’s interest in the intersection between technology and creativity began at an early age. He started his first website in 1996, and he pursued his technical interests in computer programming before starting his degree at Trinity College. After graduating, McCabe started his first software development and consulting company, where he created FoldSpy, a web-based app that helped website owners better understand visitor engagement.Before founding and becoming CEO of Intercom, Eoghan McCabe founded an award-winning software design consultancy called Contrast. He then went on to co-found Exceptional, a developer tool startup acquired in 2011. That same year, McCabe moved from Ireland to San Francisco to start Intercom.
