Gavin S. Baker is the Managing Partner & CIO at Atreides Management, LP. Atreides Management invests in high growth consumer and technology companies both publicly and privately with a long term time horizon. Gavin is currently on Xsight Lab's board of directors.

Gavin has been investing in the technology and consumer sectors for 20 years with a particular focus on consumer internet, SaaS, semiconductor and videogame companies. He prefers to make a large venture or growth equity investment only after knowing the entrepreneur for a reasonable length of time, but will make smaller investments in earlier stage companies where there has been a shorter duration relationship with the hope of scaling up the investment over time.

Before founding Atreides in 2019, Gavin worked at Fidelity Investments from 1999 to 2017, most recently as the portfolio manager of the $17 billion Fidelity OTC fund from 2009-2017, which outperformed over 99% of its Morningstar peers and won 6 Lipper awards during Gavin's tenure. Gavin was the Boston Globe’s Fund Manager of the Year in 2014 and his performance was recognized by articles in the New York Times, Barron’s, Investor’s Business Daily and the Wall Street Journal. Gavin helped to spearhead Fidelity's venture capital investing. While at Fidelity, he was a board observer at Nutanix, 23andMe, Roku, AppNexus, Dataminr and Jet.com among others and also made venture investments in Uber, SpaceX, WeWork, Snapchat, Pinterest, Redfin and Twilio.

Gavin S. Baker currently lives in Boston with his wife Becky Painter. Nothing Gavin writes on the internet should be construed as investment advice. Views are all strictly his own.
