Henry S. Schleiff is Group President of the Investigation Discovery, Destination America and Military Channel portfolio, overseeing the development, production, scheduling, research, marketing, communications and online efforts for all three networks. Under Schleiff’s leadership, Investigation Discovery (ID) has become a top ten television network for women and the #1 network in all of television for audience engagement. In addition, the network has grown from 56 million homes in 2008 to more than 81 million homes, today. Schleiff is also president and general manager of the Military Channel and Destination America, responsible for the continued growth and success of those networks and their brands. Destination America debuted on Memorial Day, 2012 as the only network dedicated to celebrating the people, places and stories of the United States, with programming genres that include food, travel, adventure, natural history and home. Since launch, Destination America has become the #1 network for men among cable networks in 60 million homes or less. As the nation’s only channel devoted to the true stories of American heroism, military strategy and significant turning points in history, Military Channel is currently available in nearly 62 million homes and earned its best year in network history in 2012. Prior to joining Discovery in August 2009, Schleiff served as president and chief executive officer for Crown Media Holdings, since 2006. While at Crown, Schleiff oversaw the growth of Hallmark Channel to more than 86 million homes, with ratings performance consistently ranking the network in the top 10 in primetime. He also expanded the brand with the successful launch of Hallmark Movie Network in high definition. From 1999 to 2006, Schleiff was the chairman and chief executive officer of Court TV, where he was responsible for the network’s rise from a base of 30 million homes to more than 85 million U.S. subscribers and growth in advertising sales revenue at a compound rate of 57% per year. Under his leadership, Court TV became a primetime ratings powerhouse known for innovative industry and consumer marketing campaigns. Before joining Court TV, Schleiff held senior executive positions at Home Box Office, Inc., Viacom, Inc., and Studios USA.Schleiff is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and The University of Pennsylvania School of Law. He serves as vice chairman of the board of directors of the IRTS and as a member of the board of directors of The Creative Coalition, The Cable Center and various charitable and philanthropic organizations, including UNICEF, The American Museum of the Moving Image and the We Are Family Foundation.
