Jason Mulvihill currently serves as General Counsel for the Private Equity Growth Capital Council (“PEGCC”). Before joining the PEGCC, he served as Legislative Director and Chief Counsel for Senator John Ensign (R-NV). In this capacity, Mulvihill developed and led strategic initiatives that supported the Senator’s pro-business policy goals. He was the Senator’s senior legislative advisor, managing the Senator’s legislative staff.

As Senator Ensign’s Chief Counsel, Mulvihill was responsible for tax and trade issues before the Senate Finance Committee. He was one of the principal Republican staff who crafted the bipartisan renewable energy tax credit legislation that was signed into law in 2008. In early 2009, he developed and secured enactment of cancellation of debt income legislation. Mulvihill also helped to prevent changes in the tax treatment of deferral, carried interest, and publicly traded partnerships.

Mulvihill joined Senator Ensign’s staff after serving as Senior Counsel for the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. Before working on Capitol Hill, Mulvihill was an Associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in Washington, D.C. practicing antitrust law.

Mulvihill graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Georgetown University, and received his law degree from Columbia University Law School. He is a member of the New York State and District of Columbia Bars. He and his wife, Christina, reside in Washington, D.C.
