Jim Yardley is Europe Editor for The New York Times. Prior to this he was Rome bureau chief reporting from Italy and Vatican City. Jim also has distinguished career as a correspondent in China, and India. In 2006 he shared the Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting with another correspondent, Joe Kahn. He has reported on garment factories in Bangladesh, the lives of terrorists in France, and the future of the European project. He is also the author of ‘Brave Dragons’ a closely observed story of a struggling Chinese basketball team and its quixotic, often comical attempt to make the playoffs by copying the American stars of the NBA.
