John Francis is the Managing Director of Fraser Kearney Capital Corp., the investment company that oversees the Francis family office. Prior to forming Fraser Kearney, John was President and CEO of Trader Media Corporation. Trader Media was a market leader in classified advertising publications and websites for vehicles, rental accommodation, new homes and condominiums, resale homes, and general classifieds. Trader Media was a private family business that John led from 1991 to 2006, when it was acquired by Yellow Media Inc. (formerly Yellow Pages Income Fund). Prior to Trader Media, John worked as an Associate, Mergers and Acquisitions with Castle & Cooke Inc., a public company controlled by David Murdock of Los Angeles, and as an analyst in the Mergers and Acquisitions department at Goldman Sachs in New York from 1986 to 1988. John serves on the advisory boards of Summerhill Venture Partners, formerly BCE Capital, the venture capital arm of BCE Inc. He chairs the board of National Salt Company Inc., a portfolio company of Altas. He is also Chair of the Investment Committee for Rideau Hall Foundation. He is a director of OTI Lumionics and NoNo Inc. In addition, he is a director and past Chair of SickKids Foundation. John was educated at the University of Western Ontario’s Richard Ivey School of Business (Honours Business Administration, with Distinction, 1986). John and his wife Susan Caskey live in Toronto with their three children.
