As Senior Director and Research Scientist, oversees research projects, partnerships, and publications for the Joan Ganz Cooney Center. A learning scientist by training, she conducts research on how children use digital media across the various settings of their lives, and the implications these tools hold for their learning and development. Lori started at the Cooney Center as a postdoctoral fellow in 2008. Since then, she has instigated and directed several of the Center’s distinguishing initiatives, including Print vs. E-books, The New Coviewing, Networked Participation, and Aprendiendo Juntos, and is currently lead principal investigator of the multi-institution Families and Media Project. Lori has delivered national keynotes and published reports, book chapters, and journal articles about her research with the Cooney Center. Before earning her PhD from Stanford, she designed and produced science simulations and visualization software for companies including BBN Educational Technologies, Logal Software, and WorldLink Media. Lori began her career managing the Instructional Television Department at Thirteen/WNET. She holds an A.B. in Communication from Stanford University and an Ed.M. from Harvard’s Graduate School of Education.
