Marcus was raised in the small town of Prosper, Texas. Marcus accepted an offer to play football at Princeton University, where he played all four years. He received his A.B. in Religion, writing his thesis on a historical analysis of American religious and cultural trends in the 20th and 21st Century. After Princeton, Marcus cut his teeth on Wall Street, where he was a fixed income analyst at the largest and leading fixed income electronic trading platform company for institutional investors and dealers. His rotations included experience on the High Yield, Emerging Market, Investment Grade, and Municipal Bond desks. This experience allowed him to gain insight into the financial markets as someone who regularly met with financial executives at some of the largest banks in the capital of the world’s financial sector. Seeking to broaden his financial acumen, Marcus left Wall Street to join Vida Capital in Austin, Texas, a multi-billion-dollar alternative asset manager. At Vida, Marcus broadened the scope of his knowledge to alternative investments, specifically private equity and hedge fund structures. Marcus’ focus at Vida with both internal and external, serving as a member of the team that met with large institutional and private investors for the firm’s flagship and closed end fund. Marcus also was responsible for due diligence and investment monitoring, as well as market and industry research. After Vida, Marcus was recruited to lead the Clubhouse Investment Club, a conglomerate of Celebrity investors looking to co-invest with premier VC. He was tasked with the immense responsibility of leading and executing the vision of the organization, which included sourcing deals that were attractive for the Club, maintaining Investor relations with the venture funds and club members, as well as handling the legal and accounting for the Club. At TXV partners, Marcus will utilize his deal sourcing ability as well as operational and fund growth to expand TXV. He will also lead TXV Plus, the syndicate arm of TXV that focuses on co-investments.
