Masato Marumo joined Silver Lake in 2013 and is a Senior Advisor and Representative for Japan. Prior to joining Silver Lake, Mr. Marumo was a Managing Director at Lazard, where he focused on cross-border transactions in the Technology, Media and Telecom sectors as well as the Power and Energy sectors.

Prior to Lazard, Mr. Marumo was a global partner at The Carlyle Group, where he was responsible for deal sourcing and value creation for companies in the Technology, Media and Telecom sectors. During his 10 years at Carlyle, Mr. Marumo helped the firm build its presence in Japan, raise two buyout funds and consummate a range of investments and acquisitions, in addition to serving on the boards of Willcom and Covalent Materials and an observer of the board of eAccess.

Prior to Carlyle, Mr. Marumo held various advisory roles for large Japanese conglomerates in the Structured Finance group and Credit Risk Management group at the Industrial Bank of Japan, now Mizuho Bank, and was the founding member of the Private Equity department at the bank.

Mr. Marumo holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.A. in Law from Keio University.
