Mathias Schaffrath studied biotechnology at the University of Applied Science in Giessen-Friedberg in Germany. He did his doctoral thesis in the working group of Professor Maison at the University of Hamburg about enantioselective separations of complex natural products.He started in 1999 at Intervet (today MSD) and was engaged with the isolation and purification of proteins after E.coli overexpression. In 2001 he moved to Sanofi/Aventis and was responsible for a high throughput purification unit for libraries and single compounds. Later he was responsible for chiral separations and implemented the SFC technology in the research laboratories. In 2011 he started the peptide purification support in R&D.
