Mike is a founder and Co-CEO at iobeam.

He is also a Professor of Computer Science at Princeton University, where he has been on the faculty since 2007. His research focuses broadly on distributed systems, networking and security, and has led to numerous national recognitions including the Presidential Early Career Award (PECASE, nominated by the National Science Foundation and given by President Obama), Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship, NSF CAREER Award, Office of Naval Research Young Investigator Award, and DARPA Computer Science Study Group.

Freedman has built a number of scalable distributed systems, including CoralCDN, a decentralized CDN that serves millions of users daily since 2004. Freedman's work on IP intelligence led him to co-found Illuminics Systems, which was acquired by Quova (now part of Neustar) in 2006. His work on programmable network management (Ethane) helped form the basis for OpenFlow and software-defined networking (SDN). His server selection system, DONAR, provided name resolution for Measurement Lab, including the FCC's Consumer Broadband Test, from 2008-2011.
