Michio Adachi is a member of the Board of Directors and a senior executive director of DENSO Corporation in Kariya, Aichi, Japan. He oversees the Powertrain Control Systems Business Group at DENSO Corporation.

After receiving a bachelor's degree in Engineering Science from Osaka University in Osaka, Japan, Adachi joined DENSO Corporation (formerly Nippondenso Co., Ltd.) in 1977.

Adachi began his career in the Ignition System Components Engineering Division, where he was responsible for the design of ignition systems. While in that division, he contributed to developing the Integrated Ignition Assembly system that integrated ignition system components such as the distributor, ignition coil, and igniter.

In January 1999, Adachi was named general manager of the System Control Components Engineering Division 2. While in this position, he helped develop the world's first vane-type variable cam timing control system that improves engine output and reduces fuel consumption and emissions by controlling the opening/closing timing of the intake and exhaust valve.

Adachi was appointed to director of the System Control Components Engineering Division 1 in January 2005, and named one of DENSO's executive directors in June 2006. He was promoted to senior executive director in June 2012.
