Dr. Tran is a co-founder of Triton Algae Innovations. At Triton, Dr. Tran has worked as a Senior Scientist and now helps to manage the research team as an Associate Director of R&D. Dr. Tran dedicated his time to developing the molecular genetic tools necessary for engineering algae to produce relevant commercial products that can yield a commercial benefit to Triton. Dr. Tran’s time at Triton has taught him a tremendous amount about how science and business intertwine and how it is essential to understand your product, the competition and the markets that your products will enter. In addition to his scientific roles at Triton, Dr. Tran has authored and been awarded two small business grants from the National Science Foundation. Helping to raise an additional $862,000 in non-dilutive research money.

Dr. Tran is a co-author on 5 patents and 13 international peer review research articles. Dr. Tran earned his Ph.D. degree in Molecular and Cell Biology and BS degree in Biochemistry and Cell biology from UC San Diego.
