Mohit “Mo” Bhende co-founded Karat with the goal of unlocking opportunities.

Interviews change lives by connecting people to organizations where they can find their purpose, grow, and change the world. And yet, while there are millions of interviews happening every year, interviewing has never been recognized as its own discipline. In fact, the vast majority of people conducting interviews receive no formal training in how to conduct them, which limits opportunities for organizations to grow and employees to thrive.

Mo encountered this challenge firsthand as a Microsoft executive trying to rapidly scale engineering hiring for XBOX. Even the world’s biggest tech company was having a hard time conducting interviews with the quantity, quality, and consistency needed to meet hiring targets.

So, with co-founder Jeffrey Spector, Mo set out to unlock the business and career opportunities that are limited today by professionalizing interviewing to make every interview predictive, fair, and enjoyable. They built the world’s first and only interviewing cloud and established the profession of Interview Engineering with Karat’s global network of interviewers.

Today, Karat helps organizations unlock hiring opportunities by conducting technical interviews on behalf of clients like Indeed, Robinhood, Roblox, and Peloton. Karat’s unique business model reclaims significant engineering time, generates clear and objective hiring data, and provides candidates with a flexible and responsive experience.

Prior to Karat, Mo cultivated his passion for hiring and talent development as an executive at Microsoft. At Microsoft, Mo closed $700M+ in business development and M&A deals for XBOX. Earlier in his career at Microsoft, Mo managed the company’s $200M Corporate China Fund and was based in Beijing. Mo holds an MBA from Wharton, an Master of Philosophy from Cambridge – where he studied as a Gates Scholar – and a BS with Honors from Penn State. He has served on Penn State’s Alumni Board and loves to ski, travel and spend quality time with his wife, children and family.
