Nat Simons is a United States businessman and the co-founder of Prelude Ventures, a cleantech investment management firm headquartered in San Francisco, California. Simons founded the firm with his wife, Laura Baxter-Simons, in 2009.Prior to Prelude, Simons was principal at Renaissance Technologies, an investment management firm started by his father. He also began the Meritage family of funds, which was spun off from Renaissance in 1997. Simons remains as a board member and vice-chair of Renaissance, as well as senior managing director and chairman of Meritage Group. Simons is also the co-founder and director of Sea Change Foundation, a private family foundation founded in 2006 that is dedicated to achieving meaningful social impact through leveraged philanthropy. Simons is a graduate from the University of California, Berkeley.
