Nick Plante is a product developer and software architect, with experience bringing dozens of web, mobile, and crypto products to market over his career as an entrepreneur and consultant. An advisor to HAX since its founding in 2012, Nick joined SOSV full-time in 2015 and founded dlab in 2018 to explore new topics in data decentralization and blockchain technology applications.Prior to joining SOSV, Nick co-founded several companies, including Mogotest and Wefunder, and consulted for a variety of businesses ranging from small product startups to Fortune 500 companies. He has made significant contributions in the areas of developer tools and infrastructure (Mogotest), open source (Docmeta), e-commerce (Wantful), and crowdfunding (Wefunder and the US JOBS Act, shaping the future of equity crowdfunding). He also created the RumbleX hackathon series, the largest online development competition of its kind. Nick was an early believer in Bitcoin (ran a small scale mining operation in 2011), and is passionate about open source, open governance, the democratization of finance, and urban / local sustainability.Nick holds a master’s degree in Computer Science from Northeastern University in Boston.
