Razmig Hovaghimian is the founder and CEO of Hoodline (Pixel Labs), a local news platform that combines machine learning with on-the-ground reporting. He is also the founder and Executive Chairman of Viki.com, a global TV site powered by a volunteer community, reaching 40M fans globally each month. Razmig co-founded Viki as a graduate student, led it from bootstrap to $25M in funding, and an exit to Rakuten for $200M+ in 2013. In 2015, he joined Rakuten’s Corporate Board as a Board Observer, and in 2016 was named the company’s first Entrepreneur in Residence. He is also the co-founder and joint patent holder of Embrace, a non-profit organization that has developed a $25 infant incubator for the developing world. Embrace has supported more than 300,000 infants in 22 countries. The team has won numerous awards, from a TED Fellowship, to The Economist Innovation Award, and was invited by President Obama to the White House Maker Faire. Razmig is a World Economic Forum Media & Ent. steering committee member and WEF Agenda Contributor. In 2014, Razmig was selected as Forbes Next Gen Innovator, and World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer for his work at Viki. He holds an MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business, and a bachelor’s degree in Political Economy from University of California at Berkeley.
