Jean-René Fourtou is the Honorary Chairman of the Board of Directors at Vivendi. Jean-René was Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer at Vivendi from 2002 to 2005 before becoming the Chairman of the Supervisory Board until June 24th, 2014. Since this date, he is the Honorary Chairman of the Board of Directors at Vivendi. Jean-René joined Bossard & Michel in 1963 as a Consultant. In 1972, Jean-René became Chief Operating Officer of Bossard Consultants and, in 1977, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of the Bossard group. In 1986, Jean-René was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer at the Rhône-Poulenc Group. From December 1999 to May 2002, Jean-René served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Operating Officer at Aventis. Jean-René is the Chairman of the Board of Directors at Bordeaux University Foundation. Jean-René currently seves as a Member of the Board of Directors at Assicurazioni Generali (Italy) and Sanofi Aventis. Previously, Jean-Rene served as a Chairman of the Supervisory Board at Canal+ Group, Member of the Supervisory Board at Maroc Telecom (Maroc), Vice Chairman of the Supervisory Board at AXA, Member of the Board of Directors at Cap Gemini, Nestlé (Switzerland) and NBC Universal (United States). Jean–René Fourtou has received many awards, such as the International Leadership Award from the United States Council for International Business in 2004, and was decorated as Officer of the Legion of Honour (2008), Commander of the National Order of Merit, Commander of the Order of Ouissam Alaouite (Morocco, January 2005) and Commander of the Order of Ouissam al Moukafaa al Watanya (Morocco, July 2005). Born in Libourne (Gironde, France) on 20 June 1939, Jean-René is a Graduate of the École Polytechnique.
