Rich Boyle is an experienced entrepreneur, startup advisor and angel investor.Rich has a 25+ year history working in and with startup companies, and finds nothing more satisfying than helping a great entrepreneur leverage experience and advice that is strategically helpful to them. Since joining Canaan, Rich has led investments in ApartmentList, GrokStyle, Mynd and ReQuantive, on whose boards he serves.Prior to joining Canaan, Rich was an operating executive for over 20 years. Boyle was the CEO and Chairman of LoopNet (www.LoopNet.com), the leading online marketplace for Commercial Real Estate (Nasdaq: LOOP) prior to it's aquisition by CoStar Group (Nasdaq: CSGP) for approximately $900 Million in 2012. Boyle became CEO of LoopNet in 2001, and in that role oversaw the merger between LoopNet and PropertyFirst, and the re-launch of the Company around a new, "freemium" based business model in late 2001. He led the restructuring, rebuilding and growth of the Company, achieving profitability in 2003 and a successful IPO in 2006. LoopNet's marketplace provided an online venue to market and search for hundreds of thousands of Commercial Real Estate for sale and for lease properties, which was used by millions of tenants, investors and brokers. Prior to becoming CEO of LoopNet, Boyle was VP Products and Engineering at LoopNet from 1999 to 2001.Prior to joining LoopNet, Boyle was SVP Product and Technology at Risk Management Solutions (www.rms.com) the worldwide leader in catastrophic risk modeling. He joined RMS in it's infancy in 1990, and stayed through the sale to DMGInfo before leaving in 1999.
