Sofie Baeten, Ph.D., has a long experience in venture capital. She started her career at Mercedes and Bekaert before being active as managing partner at several investment funds such as Capital-E, an early stage investment fund in micro-electronics and advanced materials, Gimv and Baekeland Fonds II, a venture capital fund of the University of Ghent.

She was involved in start-up and development financing of a high number of innovating companies. She holds a MSc degree in Materials Science Engineering from the University of Ghent, a Ph.D. from the University of Leuven and a master in Entrepreneurship from the Vlerick School.
