Steve Gu is the CEO and Co-Founder of AiFi, a startup that makes scalable auto-checkout technologies for brick-and-mortar retail establishments, from mom-and-pop to big-box stores. AiFi uses AI technology with proprietary computer vision algorithms and computing at the edge, utilizing low-power sensors and camera networks. Steve is an expert in computer vision, human-device interaction, and robotics. He has worked at a range of top tech companies: Canesta (acquired by Microsoft) where he worked on real-time gesture identification and avatar animation; Apple where he worked on 3D touch and the fingerprint sensor; and Google [x] working on Google Glass interactive head and eye gestures. Steve has published more than ten research papers on computer vision. He is an entrepreneur with Ph.D from Duke University.
