Jon Burke is the Ads Lead at Automattic, where he oversees advertising operations and revenue for WordPress.com and self-hosted WordPress sites. In 2012, his team oversaw the launch of WordAds, a system that enables WordPress publishers to monetize their sites with high-quality ads. Prior to WordPress, Jon ran business operations for Chai Labs, before it was acquired by Facebook. Over the years, he has also served as an advisor, leader, and investor to numerous ad tech companies, including MoPub (acquired by Twitter), MobSmith (acquired by Rubicon Project), and LiftDNA (acquired by OpenX). In 2007, Jon started as PubMatic’s first US hire, leading business development and account management operations. He is a graduate of UC Berkeley and lives in the Bay Area.
