Melissa Eddy has been the Berlin Correspondent for The New York Times, since January 2012. She began covering Germany for The Associated Press in 2000.Over the years, she has watched Helmut Kohl resign and Angela Merkel rise; she’s delved into the Energiewende and the COP21, migration and integration; the controversies surrounding the “fake news” and Germany’s struggle with digitization.Melissa is a graduate of Columbia University’s Journalism School. She was a 1996-7 Fulbright Fellow for Young Journalists in Germany. Since 2016 she has been a member of the RIAS Berlin Commission.
